Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness in the US. Eye exams are critical for patients with Diabetes to ensure a lifetime of good vision.

Why do people with Diabetes need an eye exam?
Diabetes has the greatest impact on the smallest blood vessels in our body. This includes the vessels that provide nutrients to our eyes. Without these nutrients, our retina ( the light sensitive tissue that allows us to see) cannot function and we can lose vision permanently. Patients with Diabetes are at increased risk of vision loss, glaucoma, cataracts, and delayed healing.
